Biography:

Yi-Ting (Tim) Chen is a Scientist at Amazon Braket. His past research focused on applying atom manipulation to study condensed matter physics and 2D materials, and on simulating quantum systems. During his PhD program, he interned at Amazon Braket and QC Ware where he developed quantum circuit simulators. He studied at Stanford University where he received his PhD in Applied Physics, and at National Taiwan University where he received his BS in Physics.

Session Title: Developing Quantum Applications on the Cloud with Amazon Braket

Abstract:

Quantum computer is an apparatus that can control its quantum bits, or qubits, precisely to perform computations. Harnessing the law of quantum mechanics, quantum computing promises to solve many problems that are hard to solve with a classical computer. Today, compared to other HPC computing resources, the access to quantum computers is rather limited by their scarcity. In this talk, I will explain why the best way to access quantum computers is through clouds. Amazon Braket is a cloud platform that provides an on-demand, fully managed experience for quantum computing resources. You can submit your quantum algorithm for your research or business to run on a quantum computer anytime and anywhere. Currently, quantum computers are also limited by their size and quality. Using several use cases with Amazon Braket as examples, I will explain what others have done with Amazon Braket, and what you can practically do today for your academic or industrial research.
